I know it is very early to talk about but I feel the the release of SilevrLight (http://silverlight.net/) by Microsoft is aiming at a larger market then the "Flash killer" market.

I am not sure how many of you are aware of WEB-OS (Web Based Operating system) in a nut shell , their goal is "Take your OS where ever you are".

You don't need to connect to you own OS you will always have online.

Check you old Zip files… - the 32Bit\64bit problem

There is a problem with old Zip files – old is several years gao or depending on the program you used to archive them.

According to winzip when using Zip 2.0 the maximum number of files you may arcgive is 65536.

If you used to adding files to your archive beware! You will not get an error message it will just show you

Only the files numbered above this value.

The solution is divided into 2:

1) If you have corrupted archive – you must use WinRAR and select "fix archive" .

2) If you have fine but old files you can use a new version of the Zip (like WinZIP) to open and then archive the files in Zip64 format.

Technical explanation is below:

The issue, here, is that the InfoZip Zip/UnZip modules support more than
65535 member files and larger than 4GB file sizes without using 64-bit
values (i.e., by using the Zip 2.0 format which allows only 32-bit
values of up to 0xFFFFh for total # files and 0xFFFFFFFFh for file
sizes). The Zip module does this by compressing everything you tell it
to, then storing the remainder of the number files minus 64K and
remainder of file size minus 4GB rather than the *actual* number and
size values. The InfoZip UnZip module ignores the values stored in the
Zip archive and unzips everything it finds. WinZip, however, has never
(and will never) support this format. For member files beyond 65535 and
sizes beyond 4GB, WinZip supports the Zip64 format as defined by PKWare
which allows 64-bit *actual* values to be stored for number and size of
member files.

I guess that if you have gotten something for 2007 it could be one of the above, and the old one? What have you done with it?

To be specific the memory cards, old HD or any kind of digital media you have lying around are planning on selling some on eBay to get some new stuff?

Completely erasing media can be hard, and always someone can try and restore images or data from it.

GOM PLAYER – the answer??

I think I have found the solution at least temporally, as any user that like to view video on the computer

There is always the question of what player.

When I look for one I usually look at the install size , memory print, and how fast it starts when clicking on a movie.

In the past years I have manged to collect several player from I usually use 2 :

1) VideoLan player – it is great player but the fast fwd is not working good and subtitles are not easy to implement.

2) MediaPlayerClassic – very good in all aspect but some files are played bad , and also I don’t like the GUI (There are skins I know )

Now (well 3 weeks ago) I found about GOM Player.

As the developers describe it “FAST FREE & LIGHT”. This player comes from Korea, it includes built in codecs for any format, very light (4MB) , loads fast ,and I like the GUI (without using skins).

Also the support for subtitles is vast.

Minimum Requirements:

VISTA – like a magic word it spread all over the world. Some bloggers got for Christmas a new Laptop preloaded with windows Vista.

This is big news to most of you who are traveling the paths of the blogging world and reading around

There was a lot of noise regarding Microsoft bribing them to make the vista OS look better in the eWorld.

I am not going to be to harsh about it – my guess anyone who is willing to send out such expensive gift is expecting to receive something in return…

A lot of other Bloggers who weren’t given a new Laptop for this holiday were Upset and then all hell (in terms of blogging) turn loose.

After seeing the havoc it caused Microsoft decide to ask the gift back

BUT – not everyone had their gift taken away look at this blogger she had recived an even greater gift from AMD & Microsft some great looking HTPC.

My point :

KEEP BLOGGING.

Maybe someone will be sending me some great gift for 2007.

Anyone using windows OS has probably encountered Windows Update – I myself have found several times the site to be down, and the whole download process pretty annoying.
Not to mention if you reinstalled windows and suddenly you need to get all the updates of the ast year or such…

I woke up today feeling a little sick, and then I started thinking about viruses .
No one today can say – I never heard of a computer virus – the talk is all over.
In the case of Computer borne viruses (CBV) it is justified.
Today we hear loss of data or any kind of ransom for data.
What I think is the future of those program the world around us is getting connected more and more ,
The potential for CBV to go from a PC to Handheld device is very easy.
Think for a moment what will happen as soon as you’re TV, Microwave Oven, Dishwasher and all household appliances will be connected …
The concept of smart house is getting here and fast .

I will continue my life along with Company of Heroes installed with several mods and the option to take hires screen shot from this great game.
My Digital Video hobby is also biting a big chunk of my drive , the need for free space for giant (30GB) temporary files is always making me drop delete stuff.
The audio collection needs to on hand and I know MP3 is very compressed, but adding a few together sure takes a lot.
